The first ‘phase’ of enrollment in our Academic Success Coaching ™ program involves our comprehensive assessments. Parents are asked to complete a brief questionnaire while students are provided with academic and behavioral assessments. We typically ask families to allow 90 minutes for assessment appointments.
Our Academic Assessments are computer adaptive, using sophisticated item calibration and psychometrics to dynamically adjust to each student’s unique responses. Fully supported by extensive research, they are easy to administer and yield the valid, reliable, actionable data needed to impact learning. The online assessment tools used by Success Ladder Academy are highly rated for screening and progress monitoring by the NCRTI, and for progress monitoring by the NCII.
Our Behavioral Assessments (grades 5 and higher) are very important and represent a component unique to Success Ladder Academy™. It is aspect of the assessment that enables us to make lasting changes to the young leaders’ approach to school, challenges and achievement overall. We currently leverage the DISC assessment tool. These instruments identify four modes of interacting with one’s environment, based on how the individual perceives it. A person sees the environment as either favorable or unfavorable, and himself or herself as either more or less powerful than the environment. Each combination of these four perceptions generates a dimension of behavior labeled Dominance (D), Influence (i), Steadiness (S), and Conscientiousness (C) or the DiSC model of behavior. The model is related theoretically and empirically to models of interpersonal behavior, as well as to recent research on personality dimensions.
